Insight into my youngest

Today when my youngest came in from playing in the backyard, I inquired about his experience.

"How was it out there?" I asked.

"Good," he replied.

And, because it had been raining all morning and everything was wet and green, I wondered if he had any descriptive observations. "What are the colors of things out there?"

He quipped, "The same colors as there used to be and the same puddles as there used to be."

He smiled at the "used to be" parallels, but, knowing he hadn't put much effort into actually describing the colors, he quickly looked up to see if this had satisfied me. I liked the parallels too, so I smiled. :)
